double-sided digital printing

What is Double-sided Digital Printing

Double-sided printing refers to printing on both sides of the scarf fabric, so that both sides of the fabric have perfect patternsand colors, not only solving the problem of single-sided digital printing with dull colors on the back and obvious colour differences between the front and back, but also getting rid of the complex production process of traditional screen printing, reducing waste water discharge and improving the working environment of workers.

There are 3 kinds of double-sided printing patterns: same pattern with same color, same pattern with different color and different pattern with different color

1, Same pattern with same color

The same pattern is printed on the both sides of the fabric in the same position, but the reverse side is printed with a mirror image of the front side, and the colour of the front and the reverse is the same. This is the most common type of double-sided printing, with no special requirements for the design of the pattern.

2, Same pattern with different color

The only difference between a same pattern with different color and a same pattern with same color is that the previous one has totally different colors on the two sides.  For same pattern with different color, as the different colored ink on the front and back will permeate each other, there should not be too much contrast between the colors on the front and back, which simply means that one colour should not be very dark and the other very light, for example black and white.

3, Different pattern with different color

This is usually achieved with thicker fabrics like silk & wool, or the colour of both the front and back side can only be very light color as the dark or deep colors are more likely to penetrate the thin fabric and affect each other.

Double-sided printing machine mainly has three kinds, two-times double-sided printing, same time same position double-sided printing, same time different position double-sided printing.

a. Two time double-sided printing.

After the printing on one side of the fabric is completed, the fabric will be reloaded on machine and re-printed again on the other side. The principle is to scan permeated pattern outline on the unprinted side  through the laser scanner for precise positioning, and will be transmitted to the computer to control the position of the nozzle. The advantage of this double-sided printing is that the colors are more saturated and vivid on both sides, the disadvantage is that it is not suitable for patterns with plenty of very fine lines or dots, nor is it suitable for fabrics that are too thick that the outline of the pattern on the front cannot be scanned at all.

b. Same time same position double-sided printing.

On both sides of the fabric in the vertical direction, there are two sets of nozzles on the front and back sides to spray ink on the fabric at the same time to achieve simultaneous printing at the same position. The advantage of this printing method is that the printing position is the same and accurate, the pattern on both sides of the fabric can be completely overlapped, and the thicker the fabric, the better the printing effect. The disadvantage is that the colors are not vibrant enough and the lines are not fine enough, as the ink is more likely to bleed through mutually, especially on thin fabrics, and it is not suitable for printing same pattern with different colors or different patterns.

c. Same time different position double-sided printing.

This printing machine has upper and lower position two sets of nozzles, and through the fabric guide device to turn the side of the fabric, to achieve the upper nozzle printing pattern on one side of the fabric, while the lower nozzle printing different pattern on the other side, the advantages of this printing method is the colour saturation, and the patterns on both sides are more coincident. The disadvantage is that it is not suitable for stretch fabrics, such as stretch silk satin, Otherwise, the printing position of the front and rear nozzles will deviate, and each roll of fabric, there will be at least 1 m or so of fabric will be wasted.
